Although there are a lot of webinar courses on Microsoft Project, there appear to be fewer rigorous textbooks and I figured this would be one of them. I have had good experiences with the MOAC texts on Excel 2016, Word 2016 and Access 2016, they were very thorough and useful in helping me practice for certification. Unfortunately, the Project MOAC text falls short in some respects.Flow – The chapters do not seem to have been arranged in a systematic manner, the flow of exercises doesn’t seem to follow any particular order. Also, it may not seem like a big deal but the text is not full color! While this may not be a big deal on a program like Word, it is for interface intensive instruction required for programs like Project, Excel, Access. For example critical path tasks are referenced as highlighted in red but shown in grayscale, not ideal! For a textbook as expensive as this full color is expected.Unrefined – despite being in publication for a while the text does have multiple errors and incorrect references even within the exercises. It does not seem like the authors/editors had testers/reviewers read and perform the exercises before it was released. The Project text lacks the polish of the other texts in the MOAC series.Practice files – The practice files available for download from the Wiley site are helpful but unfortunately unless you have instructor access, there are no solution files.Thorough – the practice questions are challenging and require some researchAll in all I think users are better placed buying the cheaper and full-color Microsoft Project Step-by-Step book and using that for practice.
The companion site for this book, the one holding the supporting training files, is not available. When contacted via live chat, the supplier had no information on WHEN it will be available.The book is a well organized teaching companion. However, it contains the typical academic text errors.It is recommended that you wait until the second edition is published, to allow time to 1) populate the Web Site with the supporting "Companion" material (training files) and to 2) correct the errors in the text.
Book was in excellent condition. I used it for my college class and it was spot on with the information I needed.Fast shipping and great price, what more could I ask for.
I am using this text for a project management course. I have used MOAC texts before and this one is exactly it guides you through everything you need to know about Microsoft Project step by step.
My book arrived on Monday and I am more than displeased. It looks like a dog got ahold of it, the pages are torn and bitten. The book is just trashed. It’s a rental so obviously I get what I paid for but I don’t want to be held responsible for the damage.
Didn't come with CD like expected
It's a pretty concise course book. I wish it came with an online/.pdf version as well though.
Bought this book for school. The step by step instructions in the book are easy to follow.
