I was really looking forward to this new edition, but I'm really bummed now that I bought it. This is inferior to previous editions.It actually looks like there is a database or editing issue, since the list of titles for many artists gets cut off before the end of the alphabet. The titles that are missing were in previous editions and are definitely worth more than the $3 minimum. There's also other titles in the middle of some artist lists that somehow got deleted in the changeover (which I hate) from catalog number order to alphabetical order. Again, these are worth well above $3. There are some new titles included and prices have been updated, but the omissions wash away all the positives.(I can share details about the errors from my personal collection spreadsheet if the author/editor reads this and is interested.)
It’s been a number of years since the previous edition was published. A lot has changed in “vinyl world†in the intervening years and it was good to get an updated version. I do wish Goldmine would have more than just the one value point. I know they suggest fractional values for quality below near mint, but that leaves much gray area. However, the new guide is a must-have for collectors.
I have been trying to sell my (over 200) 45rpm collection. I have had several buyers come to my house and all told me the prices in this book mean "nothing". Did not get anywhere near the prices I assumed I would from consulting this book. A waste of money.
