I chose t star because 10 wasn't available. I have read everyone of your books, some more than once. I am amazed that you come up with great stories with great characters time after time. I am 95 years old and my family is planning my 100 birthday party, please keep writing so I can continue enjoying your books until then and maybe after. Good health, happiness and many more stories. Just you this is the first time I have written a review.
This book gets into childhood head injuries and how they can effect a child. As usual, I was thrilled with the storyline. Danielle Steel always does a great job with her stories. Once I started reading it I did not want to put it down.
I loved the whole book. Easy read but flew by too fast! Highly recommend!! Hope you enjoy as much as i did. Best Danielle Steele I've read in a while. Always love her work even though it's often a little repetitive.
You never disappoint me Danielle Steel. I love all your books. Only problem I have is I can't seem to put them down once I start them and I get nothing else done.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book in return for my opinions.First, I've read almost every DS novel there is. Some have been amazing and have stayed with me for years. Others, I get frustrated because it feels as though the originality is gone. This one is somewhere in the middle.I liked the premise. Whitney's life is turned upside down when her sister and niece are in a deadly car crash. Whitney is left to raise Emma, and deal with the life altering changes due to the accident. I felt the characters were good, and stood up on their own. There was more depth than the last few DS novels I've read (looking at you, Fairytale!) but the novel was still plagued by some of the same problems--repetition, whole sections of story that weren't needed, and tired descriptions of characters that seem to be in every DS novel.Still, this was a very quick read. i was able to sink in the story. It's a page turner. All in all, not bad.
Emma Watts, age 9, has been a cast member of the hit series, The Clan, for years. Her mother, Paige Watts, is so proud of her. When not acting, Emma is busy with her tutor, Belinda; learning her lines; and taking dance and singing lessons. Now, Emma has been offered a part in a Broadway musical. While Emma wants to stay with the TV series, her mother will make the decision as she wants Emma to be a huge star.Paige’s mother, Liz Winston, had been a film star so it runs in the family. Her mother had been married to Bill Watts, a big film agent. Together, they had two daughters, Paige and Whitney. Paige wanted to act but Whitney did not. Instead, Whitney has become a successful psychiatrist. Their father ran every minute of their mother’s life. Now, Whitney gets angry with Paige for running Emma’s life like their father ran their mother’s.Neither Whitney nor Paige have ever married. Paige became pregnant with Emma when her gay friend donated sperm. He has now died. Whitney has never wanted children and her experiences with divorced men with children have not been good. However, she has met Chad Phillips, a successful man in the Silicon Valley. While he has children, they are grown. They enjoy one another’s company but have no interest in marriage. When a car accident kills Paige and Emma suffers a severe brain injury, Whitey is the only one left to care for Emma. Even after Emma wakes up from a coma, she is damaged in many ways. Whitney stays with her every minute she can, but Emma’s future of being normal is bleak. Now Whitney, the woman who never wanted children, has the sole responsibility of Emma. But she promises her young niece that she will always be there for her.The next weeks are very trying for both Emma as she slowly tries to adjust to her injuries and works to overcome them. Her frustration and anger are great and Whitney is her punching bag. Will Emma ever heal from her injuries and become the little girl she once was? This is a very touching novel that takes us through the painful day-to-day steps of Emma’s struggles and Whitney’s never-ending patience with her. It makes us ever more aware that we need to fasten our seat belts and never text while driving.Danielle Steel has once again written a fabulous book. Her characters are always strong even when sorely tested. I can’t help but their that she, herself, is a strong person who has endured many tests in her own life. Well done! I’m sure readers will love this book.I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Silent Night is a poignant story. We get to see tragic events unfold when a person is careless with their own and a loved one’s safety while operating a car. I thought Silent Night was well-written and engaging. I sat down and read this story straight through (I wen to bed late even for me). The book had steady pacing with smooth transitions between sections. There are good, relatable characters in the story. We see how life can change in a moment and families are messy. I found Silent Night to be an emotional and heartbreaking story. We get to experience the grief Whitney and Emma go through along with handling Emma’s injury. There is good information on traumatic brain injuries in the book. Danielle Steel related the details in an easy to understand way which I appreciated. Emma’s journey is difficult as she tries to relearn all that she has lost. It is nice to see the characters grow as individuals and see this one event change the course of their lives. I like that the author provided an epilogue that nicely wrapped up the book. Silent Night is a story that will touch your heart.*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book. I am not required to write a review. The comments and opinions expressed are strictly my own.
