Most of this book walks through the appellations of Bordeaux with a page or so for each discussing location, soil, grapes grown, wines made, and the general characteristics of the wines and how they compare to those of other regions. It's OK for what it is, but doesn't strike me as having a lot of meat. To my thinking organizing it alphabetically rather than by wine region or type reduced its interest to me, but not everyone will agree on that point. Unfortunately the "look inside" doesn't extend far enough into the book to sample the heart of the book, but if you are looking for brief descriptions of the appellations this book may appeal to you. I liked Pocket Guide to the wines of Bordeaux better.
