We are unschooling/homeschooling 3 kids under 4 and every morning we do about the only consistent thing of our day which is at breakfast we have a habit of reading through scripture, some saying of Early Church fathers and the Saints of the day. About a month ago we added this book. Overall it is great- the left page is a story which has prompt questions and on the right side is the picture. Since we approach learning as a family, I like that the book engages my kids at their own individual level. The pictures are great for my littlest ones and the extra questions keep the elder one focused and looking for the clues in the picture and story. For example it starts the story by asking a question, tells the story, and then asks again. The kids are prompted in what to look for and then get to answer at the end. It’s a great learning tool and helps if I am not quite yet awake-which is most mornings - let’s be real. On the con side- they left quite a lot of great stories out and the focus seems more on OT ones than the New but it’s an addition to our library not a replacement. But out of around a hundred books we’ve added in the past year this is one of my favorites.
Perfect children’s Bible!! Easy to read, short Bible stories with great pictures!!
The earlier Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes was the Bible for my four children from 1958 and up. We wore out two copies as they carried their personal Bible with them. I bought 100 copies (a box) and carried a few in the car all the time. When I saw a child playing, I would stop and take a book in hand to find the child's mother. I sold many of them and bought a replacement copy just this week.And now, the upgraded version. The copy I ordered through Amazon has not yet arrived but I reviewed the New Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes and highly recommend it for children ages 4-8 and many children will read it through age 10. This is one of the most valuable books in America because it is child-related at a critical age of their development. "Learning the Bible at Mother's Knee!"
Good, strong binding- will hold up for a full childhood at least! Beautiful artistry that will appeal to children and adults that may be reading to them. I grew up on the original book and while it was very nice, this updated version is particularly nice. The only drawing discrepency that I noticed was that Paul and Silas' feet are still in the stocks even after the earthquake. Minor detail in the picture but otherwise pictures accurately portray the story. Written part is the same as the original version with an additional short prayer on each story. Would highly recommend!!!
I love these simple stories based on Bible stories. I was able to spend short sweet time with my children and now grandchildren around the Scriptures. I led my child to accept the Lord as her Savior reading these.
This is the way to teach little ones the stories in the Bible. It seems well illustrated to me. Certainly our grand-kids seem to be getting a lot from it, and that's really what this is all about.
I was reluctant in buying another bible when my homeschool curriculum recommended this bible but I am SO glad I did! It is my favorite bible. More than jesus story book or big picture bible. this one is the only one that my 4 year old can answer the comprehension questions. it is interactive and it makes one story into a few smaller stories so they get the whole story.
Beautiful bible with gorgeous pictures and written in a way for kids to understand!
